Hello, and welcome to Fervent Curiosity, my writing newsletter! Join me as I discuss the craft of storytelling, what I’m writing, what I’m reading, and the films and television shows I’m watching. Added to the package will be my thoughts on creativity and anything else that piques my interest. Whatever the results, I hope you’ll find it engaging.
Now to address some questions you might have:
How often will I receive this newsletter?
The plan is to send out a new issue at the beginning of every month. That may change, depending on life and how it tends to get in the way of things, but the goal is to maintain a consistent schedule.
If I sign up, will I get spam emails?
Absolutely not. Subscribers to the newsletter will retain their privacy and I will never share or sell your contact info. You are my people.
What’s with the title?
See the squiggly image up at the top? It started as a doodle I used to draw over and over. The shape was meant to mimic shorthand writing, the combination of a question mark and an exclamation point. And it alludes to my view towards writing, and life in general—approach everything you do with fervent curiosity. I live for constant learning about new things. In my opinion, the day you stop learning is the day you stop living.
Please feel free to share any of the issues via social media to help spread the word.
Lastly, please make sure to mark this email as “not spam” so it doesn’t end up in your trash! You can always opt out of receiving it any time.
Hey Vic!! Love your blog, so much fun to know what you're reading, writing and watching!
I'm catching up with some older titles lately and loved these:
The Human Stain by Philip Roth
There, There by Tommy Orange
Sula by Toni Morrison
The 10th of December by George Saunders
Welcome to the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan
Just finished watching Reservation Dogs and can't recommend it highly enough!! It's a perfect show.
Also: NOPE!
My coworkers and I keep threatening to write a sitcom about a consignment store in Santa Fe. We're constantly taking notes because the store is consistently hilarious. Your blog will help me to stay motivated, so thanks for that!!
